These biscuits are fast and easy to make. Kids love them and make a great addition to the school lunch box.
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cook time: 12 minutes
Servings: 15 biscuits
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon golden syrup
1 Tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sultanas
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence
Directions:
1. Over low heat melt butter, along with sugar, golden syrup, milk, baking soda and sultanas
2. Remove from heat and stir in flour and vanilla essence
3. Use hands and roll into approximately 15 balls
4. Place on greased oven tray and flatten using hand or spatula (I find about 1/2cm thick is ideal)
5. Bake in preheated oven at 180°C for approximately 12 minutes until golden brown

Absolutely the easiest and tastiest biscuits. Haven’t made any for a few years but will be now.

Excellent. After cooking my biscuits I realised I had used self raising flour, but the biscuits came out lovely crunchy on outside and soft in the middle.

Easy simple recipe. Glad I used 113 g butter and not 125g, mixture was on soft side but biscuits didn't spread and taste delicious.

Easy and delicious. Mine were perfect at 11 minutes so it depends on your oven. I made 3 batches so just muck around with the timing.

YEA!!!! YES!!!!! YES!!!!!
Thankyou....... I have been searching for this recipe for ages. My Mum started making these 50yrs ago when I were little..This was one of the weekly bickies she made for our play lunch's.
She mostly used raisins instead of sultanas. Yummy. - Mary posted on July 3rd, 2011

They are cooking in the oven as we speak :)
Really easy recipe to follow! I was just wondering my mixture felt a bit oily so i think i may have added a little more butter than i should but they look really yum!

Quick, easy and delicious! :-) As with other posters, I measured my butter out at 125g and the mixture was perfect. These have become a firm favourite of my eldest son and I'm going to test them out at the preschool I cook for tomorrow. :-D

After reading the comments, I weighed my butter to make sure I got the full 125 grams. The dough was the perfect consistency to roll into balls using that amount. I cooked them for exactly the 12 minutes and they turned out just right, slightly crunchy on the outside and just a little bit soft in the centre... exactly how I like my biscuits!! Thanks for the recipe.

My family love this recipe and I can't believe that it has 2 bad reviews and only 1 good one (from people other than me). This is a easy recipe that produces super yummy biscuits!
Lizzie - They are dry, they're a bisuit (or a cookie if you in the States)... - Lizzi posted on July 4th, 2010

I was really dissapointed with this recipe. The mixture was far to dry and crumbled so I had to add alot more butter and even then they were dry once cooked. I only bothered cooking half the batch and biffed the remaining mixture.

This recipe is absolutely amazing. My kids and husband think these biscuits are scrummy. Have made them plenty of times without any disaster. A big thumbs up!!!!!!

This recipe definitely works as I use it all the time...at least once a month. Maybe your 1/2 cup of butter measurement was off..? 125g of butter is 1/2 a cup and is plenty!! The mix is a firm mix that you roll into balls.

I tried making these but with 1/2 cup butter it was far too dry to mix. Wasn't sure what to add so added some water - a big mistake.
